'Our lives are not our own. From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime, and every kindness, we birth our future.'

'We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection.
The mystic chords of memory will swell when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature.'

Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take away from them the power to create money and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money." Josiah Stamp (Governor Bank of England 1928-41)

Honsetly I thought that series was shit. All they did was talk about how they'd done things in the past. They seriously fucked up when they made their decision to not have anything happen for 5 episodes. They should've shifted events around more to better suite the TV-format. Books and film/TV don't have the same dramaturgy and it's a big mistake to think they do.
I read the first book (and started the second book) and found it to be okayish. Biggest problem was the ridiculous characters. They were either super noble, super assholes, super witty, super "intregy" and so on. Only character that I liked (me and everyone else) was Tyrion the Imp. He's in the same league as Gollum in Lord of the Rings. He isn't black or white, but actually making decisions that ain't based on stereotypes. The rest of 'em were rather bland.
I got so sick and tired of the whole "fuck, eat, shit, kill" being the core of the books and series. But I guess that fits HBO like a hand in a glove. Since they're on cable they can show whatever they want. I love cable! The best shows are on cable! But it feels like HBO has OCD, if it can show boobs and vaginas they will squeeze every tit they can find in there. It gets a bit tiresome and repetitive.
The most interesting part of it was the White Walkers and they were hardly explored at all.
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoilers content.
Me and my brother used to buy a plate of kebab and eat while watching the show. A month or two after it ended we were in the same restaurant getting kebab again and we both realised that we hadn't seen Game of Thrones for a while. That was the extent of the impression that show made on us. That we ate kebab to it..

To end this rant.. I'd love to see a mini-series adaptation of Wheel of Time with Kate Beckinsale in the role of Moiraine. But at the same time I'd rather not see it cause it would be extremely hard to do those books justice. There are so so many layers that would be very difficult to convey on a screen. I love how most of the characters in it are all grey. Heck even the main good guy is bordeline insane and evil! The Aes Sedai (who're supposed to be good according to Tolkien traditions) are constantly working an angle to get ahead, no matter who they fuck over.

Now I'm going back to bed. Had accidentally left my lock on the laundry room door and my neighbour woke me up to get it removed. Some Pink Floyd in the speakers and I'll sleep like a baby :)

you see i like A Song of Ice and Fire  but hate Wheel of time, opinions eh?

What you will realise is the story isnt about the characters you think it is, all the "main" characters in Game of Thrones arent the future of the realms but the past hence the tone of that novel.
