I really hope its worth it haha
I've been downloading since yesterday and its at 31% for arma and 40% for oa.
My dads broadband is about as broad as a 56k modem...
I think it's important to manage your expectations. The game is in alpha, a surprisingly good alpha, but alpha nonetheless. Servers are often full or will crash. Getting on in weekends may literally take hours if you're unlucky. And then the server may very well crash. You might randomly lose your life, stuff or location at any time.
Getting together with friends ingame may take hours as well and once you do it may not last very long. Especially if I'm around armed with a sniper rifle. It's a tough environment with little sense of direction at first.
The developer of the mod has said he has/had no intention of creating a balanced environment. It can be a tough environment to survive in.
Having said that, I was surprised at how exciting running around on your own for an hour can be. Without meeting anyone. And only seeing zombies at a distance.
You will feel betrayed when another player is headed towards you, followed by a few zombies clawing at his heels and he will simply shoot you down so he can keep running and you can entertain the zombies for him. And you will feel excited when you're stuck in a barn that has zombies crawling all around it, with nothing but a few empty tin cans to distract them and try and get out quietly. Spotting other players in game will raise your heartbeat, because you can't trust anyone. Did they see you as well? Are they friend or foe? If friendly, are they lying? What weapons do they have? Do they want yours?
So, yes. It's worth it. But you need to be aware of the whole alphaness and the fact that it is in no way meant to be a 'fair' game.
